Acne & Rosacea Care

Our well-trained medical staff at the Hotchandani Laser & Vein Centers are passionate about acne care and can help provide the tools and knowledge to maximize your results.

Rosacea (pronounced rose-ay-shah) is a disease affecting the skin of the face - mostly where people blush. Rosacea usually starts with redness on the cheeks and can slowly worsen to include one or more additional symptoms on parts of the face, including the eyes.

Because changes are gradual, it may be hard to recognize rosacea in its early stages. Unfortunately, many people mistake rosacea for a sunburn, a complexion change, or acne and do not see a doctor. Rosacea can't be cured but it can be controlled.

Testimonials from actual patients:

I suffered from Rosacea related flushing and some permanent redness. Flushing would come on for no apparent reason; and also good reasons (ie sun, alcohol, heat, emotions). Trying to lead a normal life, I needed this corrected. Gemini laser treatments toned down my flushing by about 70%. A good deal of my redness has subsided. Price is reasonable enough for a good piece of mind. Hotchandani Laser & Vein Center offered me more confidence and a better look about myself. -Andrew

ACNE

We offer several options for the treatment of acne. The following is a list of treatments and a brief description:

Photo-Dynamic Therapy: This treatment consists of a topical (Levulan) which is applied to the patient's acne area one hour prior to treatment. Followed by Blue/Red Light or one of our other intense pulse light (IPL) or V-Beam Lasers to kill the bacteria. With this treatment the patient must remain out of the light for 40 hours. Two or three treatments three weeks apart is recommended.

Smoothbeam Laser: The Smoothbeam laser emits a wavelength of light that is strongly absorbed by water in your skin. As the laser penetrates into the skin, heat is generated in and around the sebaceous glands in the upper layers of your skin. The heating of the sebaceous glands creates a mild thermal injury that changes the activity and function of the glands. Shortly after the first treatment, you will start to see a reduction in the number of acne lesions on your skin. Smoothbeam can be used on any skin color as it targets water and not melanin.

Microdermabrasion/chemical peels: The patient may be offered one or both of these treatments. With microdermabrasion sterilized crystals are applied to the skin which works in conjunction with a vacuum. This helps to unclog the pores, smooth out the texture of the skin and reduce recurrent problems with acne. This treatment will accomplish exfoliation of dead skin cells.

Chemical peels are done to kill bacteria causing inflammation and remove sebum and dead cells that are plugging the pores. This helps resolve and prevent recurrent problems with acne.

Omnilux (Blue/Red Light Treatment): The light from this treatment creates a highly toxic environment for the P.acne bacteria which helps to kill the bacteria and clear the skin's acne. Treatments are done twice a week in 20 minute sessions for a 4 week duration. At the end of treatment after 4 weeks we can expect 30% reduction in lesions, 50% reduction at 8 weeks and 60-70% reduction at 12 weeks.

Thermage: This treatment encourages the production of collagen, which can significantly benefit those with acne scarring and pitting. Thermage also reduces active acne with deep dermal heating.

Kenalog/Cortisone injections: These are offered for patients with cystic type acne. Injections can be given within the first 24-48 hours of a cystic breakout to considerably and dramatically resolve cysts.
