Gemini Laser for Spider Veins

LASER VEIN TREATMENTS:

Cosmetic surgery has entered a new world of technology, which enables us at the Hotchandani Laser & Vein Centers to provide impressive results for spider veins using lasers.

The Gemini from Laserscope is one of the most cutting edge lasers available to provide the very best results for a varity of conditions including spider veins. The treatment is best for smaller veins and will work on nearly all skin tones. However, Dr. Hotchandani may feel an alternative treatment is best, depending on the condition.

During the treatment the light of the laser is delivered through the skin and into the vein. This heats the vein which makes the vein wall collapse and seal. The vein is then browken down and absorbed by the body. In many cases, after one pass of the laser, you will see spider veins practically disappear right before your eyes.

Patients report little to mild discomfort during treatment depending on the size and area of the laser pulse. It's been described as the snap of a rubber band again the skin. We do offer a topical anesthetic to make the patient more comfortable.

After treatment the area will be tender and slightly swollen. This typically lasts only a few days. Sometimes a redmark resembling a "cat scratch" can persist for a few weeks. Typically, it is suggested to avoid heavy exercise and to apply sunscreen.

The average session lasts about half an hour, again depending on the patient.

For best results 1-3 treatments spaced 3-4 months apart may be required.

The existing veins will be drastically diminised or completely eliminated. However, new veins can still appear. Some patients have an underlying vasular disorder which may require additional treatment.
