Dr. Hotchandani, a board certified general surgeon and member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, is pleased to announce the addition of liposuction to the Hotchandani Laser and Vein Center menu of services. Liposuction, performed under local anesthesia, is being performed in the Green Bay, Wisconsin office.

Liposuction, one of the most common procedures, is designed to remove unwanted fat from isolated areas of the body that don't respond to diet and exercise. Liposuction is not to be considered a treatment for obesity or a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. It is most effective for people with good skin tone and elasticity. If a patient gains weight post-procedure, the fat will be deposited in an untreated location. The liposuction can be repeated, if necessary. In order to have the safest possible procedure, there are limits to how much fat can be removed per treatment.

Various factors will affect the outcome of liposuction. Skin elasticity, diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol consumption, heredity, and physical condition all need to be assessed. It is also important for a patient to have realistic expectations and be in good psychological health.

The procedure consists of a small cannula being inserted through a small incision. The cannula is connected to a suction machine. Liposuction takes approximately an hour, depending on the areas being treated. Patients can expect bruising and swelling which will last about two weeks. Special garments are worn to reduce the swelling and bruising and to assist the healing process.

Most patients see immediate results with continued improvement as the swelling goes down. Patients should move around the day after surgery and continue to increase their activity daily. Most patients are able to return to an office position within 3-5 days. More active work can be resumed in 10-14 days. It is important to stay out of the sun or wear sunscreen post-treatment as your skin will have a higher sensivity to the sun until the bruising has subsided.

I am extremely happy with my decision to have liposuction. I had been discouraged for a couple of years after checking with different doctors and the prices, etc. I discovered Dr. Hotchandani online while doing research on tummy tucks, etc. I called and found out that the initial consult was free, so I went. I found out that I could get the results I was looking for at a price I could afford, instead of the tummy tuck that was financially out of my reach.
