Our providers will use the SmartSkin® CO2 laser to apply a series of tiny pulses of laser energy to your skin. As these microscopic holes heal, the new, younger-looking skin is revealed, and collagen is stimulated deep within the dermis.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Our providers will carefully determine the best course of treatment based on your cosmetic and downtime expectations. You may opt for two or three sessions with minimal downtime. Or, if you’re able to take a longer downtime, you can experience dramatic results in just one complete treatment!
What Does the Procedure Feel Like?
A topical anesthetic is applied before your treatment begins. We also offer Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen (laughing gas) for your comfort. You may feel heat and tingling as the laser scanner moves across your face. This will also be discussed more thoroughly during your complimentary consultation and before the treatment.
What Should I Expect Following Treatment?
Immediately after the treatment, your skin may feel warm and appear to be sunburned. Your body naturally starts working by replacing the aged skin cells with new ones, the damaged cells being gradually flushed out through your lymphatic system.
After a few days, you will notice an even skin tone, smoother texture, and healthier-looking skin. You may see some redness and swelling, which is completely normal. Over time, collagen will regenerate and restore the supporting structure of your skin.
Your skin could start itching after the procedure, which is your body’s reaction to the healing process. Avoid touching or scratching your face, as it is quite fragile at this point and can prolong your recovery.
Because SmartSkin® CO2 has the distinct ability to deliver micro-pulses of energy, you can experience a significantly shorter recovery time than with fully ablative lasers. We will discuss exact recovery times based on the depth level chosen for you during your appointment.
