Acne and the resulting scars can give your skin a rough, uneven appearance and make you feel self-conscious. These blemishes can be difficult to cover with makeup. At Hotchandani Laser, Vein, and Cosmetic Surgery, we offer several treatments that can address active acne as well as scarring to restore your smooth, healthy complexion.
What Causes Acne?
Acne is caused by oil, dead skin, and bacteria building up inside a pore. The pore then becomes blocked, inflamed, and infected. Acne can be caused by factors such as:
- Hormone fluctuations
- Certain medications
- Dietary choices
Acne Treatment Options
Dr. Hotchandani will help you decide which specific acne treatment may be best for your situation during your consultation.
Secret™ RF combines microneedling and radiofrequency technologies to smooth acne scarring. The microneedles create tiny channels in the skin, which stimulates the body’s healing response as well as the production of collagen and elastin. The device also emits radiofrequency (RF) energy, which heats the underlying layers of the skin and promotes skin tightening.
Fractora™ is another therapy that uses RF microneedling to smooth scarring and rejuvenate the skin. The device works similarly to Secret™ RF, and the treatment can be performed on the face, neck, and chest. A series of treatments is typically recommended.
Laser Genesis™ uses light energy to treat active acne by drying up bacteria that can cause pimples and blemishes. This laser treatment can also be used to soften fine lines, tighten skin, and reduce other signs of aging.
PicoSure® is an alternative laser treatment that can reduce active acne and help correct scarring. This technology delivers controlled energy to activate natural cell regeneration and gives the skin a smoother and healthier complexion.
Other skin resurfacing procedures may be able to help revitalize your complexion as well.
The therapies described above do not require extended downtime. You may experience some skin redness and swelling, but these symptoms should begin to subside within a few days. After a microneedling session, you should use sun protection and avoid wearing makeup for a few days to give your skin a chance to heal. Dr. Hotchandani will provide you with aftercare instructions relevant to your specific treatment during your appointment.
