Rosacea is a common but poorly understood disorder of the facial skin that affects an estimated 16 million Americans.* At Hotchandani Laser, Vein & Cosmetic surgery we use the most advanced Excel V laser system from Cutera. The Excel V laser system features the broadest set of capabilities for treating the widest range of superficial to deep vascular conditions, benign pigmented lesions and skin revitalization concerns. Rosacea Therapy helps to treat redness and flushing caused by dilated blood vessels thereby promoting a more uniform and serene appearance.* Many people suffering from rosacea do not know it, but suffer from persistent facial redness, flush and blush easily when exposed to certain triggers and worry that others are looking at noticeable blood vessels.*

Primary signs of Rosacea

  • Flushing
    • Many people with rosacea have a history of frequent blushing or flushing. This facial redness may come and go and is often the earliest sign of the disorder.
  • Persistent Redness
    • Persistent facial redness is the most common individual sign of rosacea and may resemble a blush or sunburn that does not go away.
  • Bumps and Pimples
    • Small red solid bumps or pus-filled pimples often develop. While these may resemble acne, blackheads are absent and burning or stinging may occur.
  • Visible Blood Vessels
    • In many people with rosacea, small blood vessels become visible on the skin.
  • Dry Appearance
    • The central facial skin may be rough, and thus appear very dry.
  • Placques
    • Raised red patches, known as placques, may develop without changes in the surrounding skin.
  • Skin Thickening
    • The skin may thicken and enlarge from excess tissue, most commonly on the nose. This condition, known as rhinophyma, affects more men than women.
  • Swelling
    • Facial swelling, known as edema, may accompany other signs of rosacea or occur independently.
  • Signs Beyond the Face
    • Rosacea signs and symptoms may also develop beyond the face, most commonly on the neck, chest, scalp or ears.

Hotchandani Laser, Vein, and Cosmetic Surgeries Patient Comments

I don’t often leave comments/testimonials, but I’d love for some patient to do what I did for my rosacea with Dr. Hotchandani. For almost ten years I’ve let rosacea get the better of my self-esteem. At the age of 47, I decided to do something about it. From the very first time that I met with Dr. Hotchandani, I felt that there was some real hope for me. I’ve now had two laser treatments and those treatments have truly changed my life. The only downfall is that I didn’t do it earlier. Whoever you are out there feeling the embarrassment of rosacea…take the step and gain back the skin you dream of. I’m still in awe of my personal results each day…especially when I’ve gotten rid of the many concealers that I have long been part of daily routines. I LOVE this man’s work on rosacea!*

  • M.

I suffered from Rosacea related flushing and some permanent redness. Flushing would come on for no apparent reason; and also good reasons (ie sun, alcohol, heat, emotions). Trying to lead a normal life, I needed this corrected. Laser treatments toned down my flushing by about 70%. A good deal of my redness has subsided. Price is reasonable enough for a good piece of mind. Hotchandani Laser, Vein and Cosmetic Surgery  offered me more confidence and a better look about myself.*

How Does it Work?

The procedure consists of a laser precisely delivering energy to various chromophores (colored bodies) like melanin, blood, or water at certain skin depths. Depending on the equipment used, chromophore targeting may heat and damage targeted red veins or remodel skin proteins and stimulate collagen generation.*

Patient Experience

A treatment for Rosacea usually takes less than 30 minutes.* The pulses of energy may cause some discomfort during the treatment.* Depending on your skin type and current degree of skin health, three to five treatments spaced three to four weeks apart may be recommended for best results.* Redness and swelling immediately after the procedure usually fades within hours.* Recovery time depends on the technology used and the treatment strength chosen.* The Excel V treatments usually require no downtime.*

FAQs

What are the characteristics of a good candidate for Laser Treatment for Rosacea?

If you are concerned about redness or flushing and have tried creams and medication without achieving the desired results, you are probably a good candidate for Rosacea laser treatment.* Dramatic results can be achieved on a wide variety of skin types.* Due to a high affinity to melanin that exists in dark skin, some laser treatments may not be advisable on darker skin types.*

Is Laser Treatment for Rosacea safe?

All of the procedures offered at Hotchandani Laser, Vein and Cosmetic Surgery  have demonstrated excellent safety profiles in clinical trials.* The most common side effects involve redness, swelling, and rarely pigmentation changes but clients usually experience correction back to normal in due time.*

Are Laser Treatments for Rosacea painful?

Most patients feel minimal discomfort during the procedure itself.* Pulses feel like a tingling sensation or pinch.* Post-procedure discomfort may feel like a sunburn, rare significant swelling can be improved with antihistamines like Claritin or Benadryl, rarely oral corticosteroids.*

What is the recovery time I should expect?

If you have an Excel V treatment you will be able to resume normal activities immediately.* Immediately following treatment, the skin is normally slightly red and swollen for a few hours.* In rare circumstances swelling may last for up to 48 hours.*

How can I improve and maintain results?

Following your scheduled treatment regimen, it may be recommended to do maintenance treatments periodically.* Longevity of results will improve if you minimize triggers that induce rosacea symptoms including heat, sun, red wine, spicy food, emotional changes, etc.*
