Hotchandani Laser, Vein, and Cosmetic Surgeries Patient Comments
I came to the Hotchandani Laser Aesthetic Center because the hair on my upper lip was bothering me. After the first treatment I instantly felt better about that and about myself. The hair keeps disappearing every time I come back.

How Does it Work?
Our laser devices produce a beam of highly concentrated light that penetrates the skin and is absorbed by melanin pigment in hair follicles, heating them to a destructive temperature (selective photothermolysis) and disabling their future growth. Follicles can only be effectively targeted while in the active growth, or anagen stage, as pigment is less prevalent in dormant cycles (catagen when hair atrophies and telogen when hair becomes dormant and falls out). Technical settings including spot sizes and pulse durations are tailored to your hair color, texture and treatment location.
A laser hair removal procedure takes anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending upon the size of the treatment area. An upper lip treatment may take only a few minutes while a large back area could take just over an hour. Several visits are typically required for pronounced hair reduction and procedures are spaced four to five weeks apart.
Treatments are not uncomfortable for most patients, and the feeling is similar to a mild stinging or pinching sensation with each pulse. Cooling systems permit a high level of skin comfort throughout the procedure. You may return to normal activities immediately after laser hair removal procedures.
What are the characteristics of a good candidate for laser hair removal?
If you are concerned about unwanted hair, you are probably a good candidate for laser hair removal. Nearly everyone is a candidate, and dramatic results can be achieved on a wide variety of skin types. Due to a lack of chromophores serving as targets for lasers, grey and blond hair will not respond to laser treatments.
Is laser hair removal painful?
Most patients describe the feeling from laser pulses as either a snap of a rubber band or a series of light pin pricks to the skin. Sensitivity depends on pain threshold and can also vary depending on the part of the body. Post-procedure discomfort may feel like sunburn, and may be remedied with over-the-counter pain medication as recommended.
What is the recovery time I should expect?
You should be able to resume normal activities immediately. Normally, the skin is slightly red and could be swollen for up to 48 hours. Protection from sun exposure is required a week before and after laser treatment.
Which skin types can be treated at Hotchandani Laser, Vein and Cosmetic Surgery ?
Most skin types (Fitzpatrick scale I through V) can be treated by the lasers used at Hotchandani Laser, Vein and Cosmetic Surgery. To be safe, Laser Hair Removal is avoided on darker and tan skin types. For people with darker skin types, we may offer test spots to avoid possible pigmentation changes and/or potential blistering.
Are lasers safe?
Laser technology has been used safely in a variety of medical procedures including eye correction and dermatology for many years. Temporary blisters and/or pigmentation changes in the skin resulting from excessive energy levels have occurred, but the most common injuries caused by lasers are eye related. Use of eye protection and the wealth of Hotchandani Laser, Vein and Cosmetic Surgery experience using lasers minimize this risk.
